Tesco Mobile Review

Tesco Mobile offer a wide range of mobile phones available on both Pay monthly and Pay as you go plans. A virtual network, Tesco mobile has some  great value Pay monthly tariffs and SIM only deals. In particular Tesco Mobile offers some of the best PAYG rates with their incredible Tesco Lite budget price plan. With calls starting at just 8p per minute and texts only 4p each, Tesco can easily save customers hundred of pounds every year compared to the bigger mobile networks.

Even the regular Tesco tariff is decent value when you consider that you can get triple credit with each top-up with Tesco offers. Tesco Mobile definitely offers amazing value and even offer up to £200 as a trade in for your old mobile (paid via electronic bank transfer, cheque or Clubcard points). However, all new mobile phones sourced from Tesco are locked so you can’t even use them on other networks, even other virtual networks that also use O2 for their infrastructure (such as Giffgaff).

Because Tesco is tied to the strong O2 network (its a 50/50 joint venture between the Tesco and O2), despite the low prices and budget tarrifs, Tesco offers great call quality and decent UK coverage. The only small fly in the ointment is patchy 3G coverage in some areas in the UK (however they do have 99% population coverage for 2G). In fact, if you are a heavy data or 3G user, it would be worthwhile investigating the £2 per week unlimited data bundled package, as otherwise the data charges can be quite expensive.

Tesco mobile is a great network to choose and one of the cheapest virtual networks in the UK. Particularly if you make intelligent use of the Tesco "Triple credit offer" on the PAYG tarrif (Your free credit lasts for one month and you can only get free credit once a month and any unused free credit will expire). In addition Tesco Clubcard points are available for every £1 spent on your monthly bill and even with every top-up you purchase at a Tesco store.

In 2011 the annual Which? Awards took place at Kings Place in London and Tesco Mobile were judged the winner in the "Best Mobile Service Provider" category. Beating another virtual network Asda Mobile and even O2 itself. This award came just after the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction award in 2010 (Tesco also one this highly regarded award in 2008).

Every Tesco phone monthly contract deal includes 5000 texts and all of the smart phones have inclusive data. There is also the option to pay up front towards the cost of your phone and get even more inclusive minutes and texts every month on a great range of mobiles or just choose a free handset on a 12 or 24 month contract.
