LG Optimus L3 black Review

LG Optimus L3 black

The Optimus L3 is part of the LG L series smart phones, this is a budget range offer stylish handsets at competitive prices by cutting some of the premium features found on premium smartphones. The L3 is the cheapest handset in the L range and yet still features a 3.2-inch screen, 800MHz processor and the powerful Android Gingerbread operating system. The styling of the L3 is reminiscent of the iPod nano, with the large piece of glass and the rounded inside corners of the surround. Build quality sees top notch despite the extensive use of plastic and there is no flexing or creaking while using the handset.

The screen size is just 3.2 inches, allowing the L3 to fit easily into the palm of your hand. But the small size counts against it if you want to do a lot of web browsing or watch movies, but it is adequate for these tasks if not brilliant. The 240 x 320 pixel resolution is pretty basic, even for a budget phone, so this is obviously one of the areas LG has cut back on in order to keep the price low. The screen is decent to use however with crisp icons easy to read text, it's plenty bright enough too. It really only falls down in direct comparison to more expensive touchscreen handsets.

The L3 comes with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, which although not the latest version of the Android operating system, it is the last version specifically designed for phones, rather than tablets like the latest Ice Cream Sandwich version. But Gingerbread powered by a modest 800MHz processor, offers a surprisingly pleasant user experience on the L3, things do slowdown slightly when the screen gets busy with apps, but for this kind of money you can certainly do a lot worse!

If you are looking for the best, most powerful phone, then the L3 wont interest you. But if you are looking for a basic Android phone, that is good-looking and well priced, the L3 is definitely worth a look. With contracts available through the major networks for less than a fiver, for a handset that offers a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, Android Gingerbread 2.3.6, a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus and digital zoom, microSD card support up to 32GB, 1GB of onboard memory, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 3.5mm headphone socket, GPS and FM stereo radio - it's hard to go wrong at this price!
